Book those tickets!

From Alex Ray, House Manager...

Hello Cast,

This is Alex Ray CCCT's House Manager. We're heading into the last half of the run and there's a few things that you should be aware of.

First, All our Sunday Matinees are now sold out. If you have friends or family who were planning on coming to these performances, and who haven't made reservations should make reservations for a Friday or Saturday Evening performance.

Second, please advise any family or friends who wish to come and see that show who haven't made reservations yet to make them quickly. Typically the audiences for the final 2-3 weekends of a production are much larger than the first 3, so planning ahead is the wisest course of action.

Third, if you have friends or family who wish to come and usher, I am very good about allowing people to see the show when we are not busy in the front. Have them contact me soon, as I am working now on the schedule for our last weeks.

If you have any questions for me, please email me at this address, alexanderl.ray@gmail.com

Thank you for your time.
Alex Ray

St. Louis Costume Photo Shoot

From your costumer, Carol Wood...

Happy 4th!

Thank you so very much for making the show absolutely beautiful! Besides doing a fantastic job singing, dancing, and acting, everyone is wearing their costumes so well!!!

I'd like to get photos of you in your costume, so I've engaged a photographer to shoot the show on Sunday, July 15th. In addition, I would like to get photos of everyone in their costumes after that matinee (that's NEXT Sunday, not this coming). The shoot after the show would begin with the whole cast for about 45 minutes, then the leads for a little longer. I'm guessing the whole shoot should last roughly an hour. The following shoot order would require only 1 costume for ensemble and select costumes for the extended family:

1) 1st Trolley cast: 1st Trolley
2) Dancing ensemble: Party
3) Extended Smith family: Act I.i-iii then fair costumes
4) Esther and John: Ball

I'm still working out with the photographer whether I can get a free photo for each cast member out of the shoot, but don't know just yet.

Does this date and time commitment work for you?

Thanks again so very much for your patience with the costumes and doing such a great job!

Cheers,
Carol

Opening Night Notes

There were a few bumps in the road but all-in-all it was a pretty darned cute show. You all did really well and should be proud. We just have to keep vigilence on these scene changes and tighten a few things up. Please see notes below...

1. NOISE: Keep the noise in the dressing room down. It's still too loud. THE AUDIENCE CAN HEAR YOU. Not only is it distracting but disrespectful to the actors performing on stage. Since I can't be back there to do it rudely, I'd like you to please politely police one another. And if you get shushed by another actor, don't get offended, just do it. Also when you're using the stairs exiting the stage and going to the dressing room STEP down on them, don't JUMP. The thumps go straight through the wall. Kids, any loud hand held games are no good either. (Guys, please be responsible and stop making me play mean, constantly-lecturing stage manager. I really don't enjoy it.)

ON TO THE SHOW

2. Tootie- After your conversation with the postman and while the stage right side of the house is opening up, please don't watch the scene change. Just keep singing out to the audience, we want them to focus on you.

3. Esther and John- If at all possible, carry hankies in your costumes during Lon's party so you can blot sweat off before your turning out the lamps scene. The combination of the dim light and being in follow spots really made you glisten.

4. Joe- Let's figure out why that phone ring didn't happen.

5. Grandpa- When you take Tootie off right in act two scene one to tend to her lip (during Boy Next Door Reprise), could you clean some of the blood off? It looks like you guys just took her to the kitchen to tend to her wound but never did. I'll try to get some wetnaps or something and put them on the stage right props shelf. She should still look injured but not quite so bloody.

6. Act II, Scene 1-2 scene change (Smith House Halloween to Smith House Packing/Christmas): we missed the picture up on the landing facing out to the audience. That picture needs to be removed as well.

7. Act II, Scene 2-3 scene change (Smith House Christmas to Ball): The flipper walls were never flipped. They need to be trelis side out. We still had the Smith home walls out. The telephone was particularly out of place. ALSO whomever placed the Christmas tree did it sideways. Be careful about how the tree is positioned as only one half is decorated.

8. Act II, Scene 4-5 scene change (Smith Home Exterior to Smith Home Interior): Silent Night singers please take your cue immediately off of John's exit. I took the lights out because it seemed like Esther was standing in light and the scene change was not happening. So it should go this way:
John: Merry Christmas, Esther.
Esther: Merry Christmas, John.
John Exits cueing Silent Night.
The start of Silent Night cues the right half of the house to open and the scene change to begin. This will all happen in the same lighting for the scene. So your cue is the song, not the lights.
When the stage left side of the house starts to open I'll take it to a black out.

9. M. Manske- As discussed, let's cut the bottom masking of the fair drop, and instead paint the bottom board of that drop black, bring it down as far as possible and call it a day.

10. Pat- We need to gel your piano lamp, it was casting way too much light onto the set.

11. CAST- I need your scripts back. Remove all pencil marks and bring them in TODAY please.

See you tonight.

Publicity Photos Tonight

Tonight at 7:45 we are going to be taking publicity photos. Sorry for the short notice, this is the first I'm hearing of it as well.

I'll let you know what we'll need as information comes in. This will require a few set and costume changes. Sorry.

The Dirt on Comps

From Nan Ayers, Production Manager:

Here's the scoop for using one's comp tickets:
1. Call (510) 524-9132 & make reservations. They don't really care if you have comps or intend to pay at will-call. Just make reservations so as to avoid disappointment.

2. Please plan to use your comps on Opening Night! We have a reception after the show in the Terrace Room for both the cast and the first-night audience. Or if that won't work for you, the next night, Saturday. If there are tickets that might remain unsold they'd likely be on either of these nights (til the "word" gets out) so of course we'd rather give tickets on those nights to your friends and family. :o)

Mark, your producer, will hand you your comps later this week, or perhaps that will be my pleasure... If it's mine, then it'll be on Wednesday night.
As of the last report there are only 89 tickets left for Opening Night. Don't delay. Make your reservations tonight.
